Carlsbad-based TetraVue closed a $10 million Series A last week. Led by Robert Bosch Venture Capital and Nautilus Venture Partners, the company said the money will help bring its solid state high-definition LiDAR to the autonomous car industry — in addition to helping position the company as a leader in Vision for Things (VfT). “We plan to use this financial support to continue to deliver state of the art 3D vision technology to enable smart vision for smarter machines,” said Paul Banks, Founder and President of TetraVue. The company’s 3D vision technology has applications in autonomous vehicles, virtual reality, manufacturing, and engineering.

 

Hopsy Coming to San Diego

Hopsy, the beer delivery startup born at Berkeley, may be coming to San Diego soon. Looks like the specialized growler deliveries from local breweries to your home could start sometime in 2017.

 

Former Charger Helps Launch Vets 22 App

Former San Diego Chargers cornerback Drayton Florence has teamed up with a veteran and entrepreneur to bring veterans the resources they need. Vets 22, named after the 22 veterans who commit suicide daily, is aimed at being an immediate resource for veterans with a variety of information at their fingertips.

 

Hospitality Startup Scores Partnership with Samsung

Local startup Urban Translations is working to change the way customers ask for things. In restaurants, they help you order food directly from a tablet. In a hotel, it might mean booking a spa appointment from the tablet in your room. Now the company has a partnership with Samsung which will help them acquire those tablets more efficiently and at a lower cost.

 

Lindbergh on the Cutting Edge

You might not readily see all that is going on the San Diego’s Lindbergh Field to make way for new technology, but it is happening. According to the Airline Passenger Experience Association, the airport has spent a good deal of time and effort ensuring that the airport is “future friendly.”
