Art Meets Science in Balboa Park This Summer

The new cross-discipline exhibit pairs artists with scientists

Having a painter visit a research lab to find inspiration for their next masterpiece is one way to blend art with science. The San Diego Art Institute used this direct approach for its new exhibit, Extra-Ordinary Collusion, at its Balboa Park gallery through July 2.

More than 20 artists were paired with neurobiologists, geneticists, and experts in biophotonics from the Salk Institute and given the chance to see what goes on inside the world-renowned labs. The paintings, installations, and sculptures that resulted from this cross-discipline collaboration are a must-see.
