Scientists convened in San Diego this January to discuss the genetic makeup of marijuana, as part of the Plant and Animal Genome Conference. Colorado-based Sunrise Genetics unveiled its work during a workshop titled “Cannabis Genomics: Advances and Applications.”
“No plant on the planet has had a greater influence on human culture,” says Sunrise CEO CJ Schwartz, who believes understanding its genetic makeup could allow scientists to pinpoint exactly how derivative products will affect the body and mind.
