As a student in Point Loma Nazarene University’s Evening MBA program, Susan Laughlin gained both the business skills and life skills to start her own company: Nut Crumbs, a first-of-its-kind nut-based bread crumb alternative. The mother of three worked full-time while attending the two-year program.
“They really taught me the importance of prioritization,” she says. “I learned I was capable of doing so much more than I thought.” Laughlin still uses the profit margin and investment return templates she learned in class, but her education wasn’t all about the bottom line. “It’s one thing to focus on profit, and another to factor in ethical decision-making—how you treat everyone that comes in contact with your business.”
While creating a bid for a large grocer, she leaned on a former professor. “He spent 90 minutes on the phone making sure my numbers were realistic,” she says. “Those relationships last much longer than the program.”
Just like Susan, you can bring power to your purpose with an MBA from PLNU.
